Boehner Said He's Never Heard from a Supporter of Public Option - 202-225-6205

.
From Jon Ponder, at Pensito Review:

House GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) told reporters yesterday that, based entirely on his empirical experience, there aren't any supporters of an optional government-run health-insurance plan. He said the government option is as "unpopular as a garlic milkshake." He also acknowledged that by making this claim, he was "inviting" the plan’s supporters to call him:

"I'm still trying to find the first American to talk to who’s in favor of the public option, other than a member of Congress or the administration. I've not talked to one, and I get to a lot of places and I've not had anyone come up to me — I know I'm inviting it — and lobby for the public option," Boehner said.

"This thing (the public option) is about as unpopular as a garlic milkshake," Boehner added, noting that he had not consumed such a milkshake.

As is usual for Bush-era Republicans, Boehner is either clueless or lying. Surely someone his staff has informed him that a Quinnipiac poll in Ohio two weeks ago found that Boehner’s home-staters are in favor of an optional government insurance plan, 57 percent to 35 percent.

Nationwide, the latest CBS News/New York Times poll found that 72 percent of Americans favor the government plan, while just 26 percent oppose it.

A SurveyUSA poll in late August found that 77 percent of Americans supported the government option.

If you're a supporter of the government plan, Leader Boehner needs to hear from you:

  • Butler County: 513-779-5400
  • Miami County: 937-339-1524

Bravo, Marc, for calling this lting, clueless goof's bluff and posting his numbers.
Keith Olbermann summed it up nicely last night when he said Boehner should crawl out of the tanning booth once in a while. What a thoroughly dishonest phony Boehner is!

Thanks for the comment, Jack. If you recall, Boehner is the one who taught Beck to weep publicly. (He did so on the floor of Congress, crying like a baby as he idiotically tried to peddle the notion that the Iraq War had something to do with 9/11 and keeping America safe). Anyway, I think we now know how Boehner got his tears to flow: it must have been garlic milkshakes.

Of course, he's not heard from a public option supporter. Wealthy pampered people like this never get out and see how real working class Americans live. I bet Boehner hasn't set foot in a Wal-Mart, pumped his own gasoline, or fixed a flat tire, in the past decade, if ever.

The further behind in the polls, the GOP falls, it seems like the more to the right that people like Boehner move. The GOP's fortunes continue to sink and yet, bizarrely, the party keeps moving more to the far right. Bush made Reagan actually look kind of liberal and Reagan made Nixon look very liberal.

This is how the GOP dies. Sit back and enjoy it. Next up, the 1% who own 95% of EVERYTHING...

Enough is enough. We're calling for the Impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama. And if you agree, you can join us right now.

Right here and right now, you can add your voice to ours... and add your name to the Articles of Impeachment against Barack Hussein Obama.

Enough is enough, Anonymous? We haven't even gotten started. OUR president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today. YOURS is still sitting in Dallas trying to memorize his zip code. Stick that in your impeachment proceedings.

Hi WageslaveZ good to hear from you. I hope you're right about the death of the GOP. But as long as ignorance is widespread in the U.S., I think there will always be a hard-core GOP base.

I'm a Conservative and I just called Boehner's office and told him I DON'T want socialized health care.
Thanks for providing the phone number.
