As you correct...I think your point is well-founded. As you correctly pointed out, we have deposed many heads-of-state in the past, and would not hesitate to do it again. Al-Maliki remains quite visible, and we have a large number of Blackwater types, who would not hesitate to squeeze the trigger. It would also be routine to find a patsy, to frame the murder on. Naturally, he would be shot, before he could talk.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11753985.post-54114200670747860632008-07-22T12:12:00.000-05:002008-07-22T12:12:00.000-05:00There's no doubt the Bushies are unhappy, but I do...There's no doubt the Bushies are unhappy, but I don't think they have the positioning right now to oust him. Elections are in December, the American presence is already overwhelmingly unpopular, and Maliki is already seen as something of a stooge - as would be anyone who replaced him. Time for some new bribes by the Bushies, I suspect...Batocchiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02193752396025012825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11753985.post-33538517718452233192008-07-22T11:37:00.000-05:002008-07-22T11:37:00.000-05:00Just came across your blog. If I were Bush/Cheney/...Just came across your blog. If I were Bush/Cheney/Condi I'd be awfully cautious about what happens to Maliki. He has been built up as the symbol of progress and the face of the New Iraq. Getting killed in an election year can't be good the McCainster. Also, there's no guarantee Sistani wont flip if Maliki buys it.

Which is probably why he's taking his chances now. The man knows how to strike when the iron's hot.

What happens to him if McCain wins, however, is open to question.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
