Mark Sanford News Roundup

By MARC McDONALD

Look, I don't really care about the extramarital affair of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R). But it is pretty nauseating, as always, to hear about the hypocrisy of politicians who belong to the supposed "Family Values" party.

Sanford, let's not forget, was relentless in his attacks when he backed impeachment articles against Bill Clinton back in 1998, as the HuffingtonPost points out:

This is "very damaging stuff," Sanford declared at one point, when details of Clinton's conduct became known. "I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign)... I come from the business side," he said. "If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he'd be gone."

So Sanford is a lying, sack-of-sh*t hypocrite. What's new for the Republicans?

What we ought to be more concerned about is the extent of taxpayer funds in Sanford's trips to Argentina. As the CharlestonCityPaper.com pointed out:

In December, the Associated Press reported that taxpayers had spent $21,488 in 2008 on Sanford trips to China, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as nearly $2,000 in travel from his own office.

But not to worry. Fox News is all over this story, with their usual high standards of journalism, labeling Sanford as a Democrat, as Media Matters noted. Check out the on-screen headline from Fox's coverage of Sanford's news conference: "SC Gov Mark Sanford (D) Holds News Conf On His Weekend Disappearance."

Conservatives hold their own to the same high standards they require of their political rivals. Sanford has received nothing but resounding condemnation from conservatives for his behavior. But Barney Frank who operated a homosexual prostitution business from his home is still in the Senate embarassing his party on a daily basis. Clinton who raped at least one woman, sexually assaulted another and who nailed anything with a heartbeat while humiliating his family and the country enjoyed universal support from shrill left wing radicals. They would have been happier only if he was caught sucking a dick. And William Jefferson STILL has not answered for his obvious guilt in accepting bribes and wallowing in corruption. The Democrat whackos still continue to protect him. So before you speak of hyprocricy because individuals sometimes fail to uphold their own high standards of decency, remember, the only standards of decency that exist at all in Washington are those held up by conservatives. So the thing for you to do is to retract your depraved hate spewing and offer a genuine apology to conservatives. The response of the right is predictible as the sun rising. We have principles. Maybe you should require the same of your own party, you sicko.

Kind of like the way that Republican wackos such as yourself who still continue to protect their hero, Bush, who lied America into an illegal, immoral $3 trillion fiasco of a war that murdered 1.3 million Iraqi men, women and children civilians, and utterly destroyed America's reputation worldwide.

BTW, when Clinton lied about a blowjob, nobody died. (In fact, nobody gave a shit about him getting a blowjob, except for the hypocritical, sack-of-shit liars, such as yourself).

Now turn off your brain and go back and start listening to your hero, Rush OxyMoron. He'll spoonfeed you his opinions and tell you what to think.

Fuck off, Nazi.

I WANTED to be a Republican, but I have always been faithful to my wife. I WANTED to be a Republican, but I didn't go to church enough. I WANTED to be a Republican, but I had too many persons of color as friends. I WANTED to be a Republican, but I thought stimulus money should go help South Carolina's crappy schools. I WANTED to be a Republican, but I didn't think government money should pay for politicians' pleasure trips. I WANTED to be a Republican...NOT!

The only problem is, there's now a lot of Fox News drones who likely believe that Sanford is a Democrat. Note that Fox News has done this in the past, as well: they labeled Larry Craig and Mark Foley as Democrats, too. What's scary is that there are millions of people who get ALL of their news and views from Fox.
Fox always tried to explain this away as a "technical glitch." Yeah, right.

Points re anonymous:

Barney Frank is a member of the House of Representatives, not the Senate. And, when was he convicted of operating a homosexual prostitution business out of his home, or when did he confess to that?

Bill Clinton was accused of many things, but was he ever even charged with rape? Or accepting bribes?

And, the word is "wacko."

This person actually spells better than most comments of this type that one sees. Otherwise, the brains are still feces.

He has?
How about "Mr. Official-Face-Of-The-GOP," Rush Limbaugh himself?
Limbaugh said Sanford's behavior was no big deal, that he was "just having some fun." Limbaugh then blamed it all on (wait for it) President Obama(!).
Like Keith Olbermann commented a couple of nights ago, this is officially the point at which Rush Limbaugh "jumped the shark."
